Pygmalion in the stone masonry workshop!

Unique performance in the stone masonry workshop!

One of the most cherished baroque ballets, Pygmalion, is the story of the sculptor who falls in love with his own creation. You can now experience Rameau`s masterpiece in a full production of singers, dancers and orchestra in the most magical setting imaginable, the stone masonry workshop of the northern most gothic cathedral in the world, Nidarosdomen.

To make the story come alive, Barokkfest has drummed up a particularly qualified team of acclaimed artists. Authority on French baroque opera, Christophe Rousset, is conducting, while the young budding French direcgtor Judith le Blanc shapes the stage performance. Choreographer Gudrun Skamletz, known for her fresh approach to baroque dance, develops the physical expression of this piece which is all about the human body and its movements. World-renowned Swedish tenor, Anders Dahlin, inhabits the title role as the lovesick sculptor.

There will be a total of six performances on three consecutive nights. The audience will consist of a mere 70 spectators at a time, and it is safe to say that this will be a once in a lifetime experience.
