Launched in 2013 the Barokkfest Early Music Festival has rapidly developed into one of Scandinavia’s major early music events. The festival aims to share first class music experience within exceptional historical venues. Taking place in the Nidaros Cathedral, the world’s northernmost gothic cathedral and the neighboring medieval archbishop’s residence, the program features world leading artists alongside some of Scandinavia’s finest musicians in the field of early music. The festival focuses on the rich repertoire of vocal church music and opera repertoire. The festival takes place every year in the last week of January in Trondheim, Norway.
