Bach partitas

Kreeta-Maria Kentala

In this concert, the Finnish violinist Kreeta Maria Kentala, explores the connections between Bach and traditional Finnish music. The age-old melodies from Kaustinen (a Finnish town that hosts the biggest annual Folk Music Festival in the Nordic countries) are characterized by a flow and breadth that have clear echoes of the German tradition, from which Bach took inspiration to create his groundbreaking musical poetry. The beautiful and mysterious surroundings of Chapter House (once built for the sole purpose of protecting the relics of the holy blood of Christ) in the Nidaros Cathedral, will provide the setting for this journey of discovery of the musical links between two centuries and two separate yet connected European cultures.
