Klassisk lunsj for alle II: Love and Law in the age of Augustus

Augustus, regarded as the first Roman emperor, introduced – for the first time in Roman history – laws that turned extramarital sex into a crime against the state. Simultaneously, the Roman poet Ovid gave instructions through his poetry on how to cheat on one’s spouse. We are in for a treat as professor Ioannis Ziogas of Durham University unravels the fascinating story behind the clash between Ovid and the emperor Augustus.
